Japan Proxy Payment Guide

Overview

JPS uses two main payment stages.

This separates known purchase costs from shipping costs that cannot be finalized until the parcel is packed.

At the Japan-side purchase stage:

Item price + actual Japan domestic shipping + ¥300 JPS proxy fee per purchase request

Example:

Item: ¥7,000 Domestic shipping: ¥0 JPS fee: ¥300

Due now: ¥7,300

Before warehouse arrival, JPS does not yet know:

Charging a final international shipping amount at purchase would therefore be less accurate.

After packing, the second payment may include:

Payment processors, card networks, banks, or currency-conversion providers may charge fees or apply their own exchange rates.

JPS should disclose these separately from the ¥300 proxy fee where they apply.

Do not hide payment-processing costs inside an unexplained exchange-rate spread.

Possible cases include:

The account record should show amount reserved, charged, refunded, or released.

An auction maximum is not necessarily the final purchase price.

JPS may reserve funds while the bid is active.

If the item is won for less, the unused reserved amount is released under the JPS auction workflow.
