Overview
Japan Proxy Shopping (JPS) helps overseas buyers purchase products from Japan and ship them internationally.
The service is designed for people who find an item in Japan but cannot complete the purchase directly because the seller ships only within Japan, requires a Japanese delivery address, or does not support the buyer’s preferred international checkout method.
JPS handles the Japan-side purchase, receives the item at its warehouse, stores it, prepares it for international shipment, and helps the customer choose an available carrier.
What JPS is designed to make easier
Buying from Japan usually involves several separate costs and decisions.
A typical order may include:
JPS separates these stages so the customer can see what is known now and what will only become known later.
That is why JPS uses a two-stage payment structure.
- the item price
- Japanese domestic shipping
- a proxy purchase fee
- warehouse storage
- parcel packing
- international shipping
- destination-country import charges where applicable
Payment 1: Purchase in Japan
At the purchase stage, the customer pays:
The standard JPS proxy purchase fee is:
¥300 per purchase request
Example:
International shipping is not finalized at this stage because the item has not yet been received and packed.
- item price
- Japanese domestic shipping when charged by the seller
- JPS proxy purchase fee
- Item price: ¥7,000
- Japan domestic shipping: ¥0
- JPS proxy fee: ¥300
- Due now: ¥7,300
Payment 2: International shipping
After the item reaches the JPS warehouse, the international parcel can be prepared.
Typical shipping-stage costs include:
JPS does not add a markup to the international carrier rate.
International shipping is charged at the actual carrier rate.
- international parcel packing from ¥500
- optional item photos at ¥500/item
- actual international carrier charge
- any additional storage or repacking requested by the customer
Free consolidation
Eligible purchases can be combined into one international parcel without a separate consolidation fee.
Consolidation: Free
The customer pays for the final parcel packing, which starts from ¥500 per international parcel.
This means consolidation and packing are treated as separate concepts:
- combining eligible orders: free
- preparing the final outbound parcel: from ¥500
60 days of free warehouse storage
JPS provides:
60 days of free warehouse storage
This gives customers time to wait for purchases from different Japanese sellers or stores before preparing an international shipment.
After the free period, additional storage charges apply based on parcel or item size.
Current storage tiers should always be shown on the live fee page.
Basic receiving check
When an order reaches the warehouse, JPS performs a basic receiving check.
This is intended to confirm that:
A basic receiving check is not:
Customers who need additional visual confirmation can request item photos for ¥500 per item.
- the shipment arrived
- the item broadly matches the order
- there is no immediately obvious external issue
- professional authentication
- detailed condition grading
- electronics testing
- verification of every accessory or component
Shipping protection
JPS uses the shipping protection and compensation terms of the international carrier selected by the customer.
JPS does not present this as separate JPS insurance.
If an eligible parcel is lost or damaged in international transit, JPS assists with the carrier claim process.
Any compensation is subject to:
- carrier approval
- carrier coverage limits
- declared or invoiced value
- carrier exclusions and claim requirements
Actual carrier rates, no JPS shipping markup
JPS does not increase the carrier's international shipping rate for additional margin.
If the applicable carrier charge is ¥3,300, the international shipping charge is ¥3,300, subject to the carrier's actual billing rules.
This makes it easier for customers to understand the real cost of getting an item from the JPS warehouse to their destination.
What experienced proxy buying actually requires
The lowest Japanese listing price is not always the best purchase.
Before buying, experienced buyers also check:
JPS guides are written around those practical buying decisions rather than only around keywords.
- seller
- exact model or edition
- size or variation
- used condition
- missing accessories
- Japanese domestic shipping
- shipping restrictions
- expected parcel size
- total delivered cost
