Overview
AmiAmi already serves many overseas customers, so direct international shipping should usually be the first option you compare.
A Japan proxy becomes useful when it provides a concrete advantage, such as multi-store consolidation or a Japan-side receiving workflow.

Direct shipping is usually the simplest starting point
If AmiAmi offers a suitable shipping method to your destination, direct shipping avoids an additional warehouse stage.
Compare:
A proxy should solve a problem, not create another step without a benefit.
- available carrier
- delivery time
- shipping price
- parcel size
- order timing
Figure boxes make shipping expensive by volume
Scale figures are often light relative to their box size.
That means dimensional weight can matter more than actual weight.
Before choosing a shipping strategy, consider:
This is especially important with large 1/7, 1/6, and premium boxed figures.
- retail box dimensions
- protective outer packing
- number of figures
- whether collector boxes must be preserved
- whether one large parcel or two smaller parcels is more economical
Preorders need storage planning
AmiAmi orders often include preorders.
Release dates can move.
If you are combining several releases, check:
JPS provides 60 days of free storage, so preorder timing should be planned around that window.
- expected release month
- whether the store combines the orders
- when payment becomes due
- how long the proxy warehouse can hold earlier arrivals
- whether delays will push items beyond the free storage period
Consolidation is free, packing is separate
For JPS shipments:
This is most useful when an AmiAmi purchase is being combined with goods from other Japanese stores.
- consolidation of eligible purchases: free
- final international parcel packing: from ¥500
- international shipping: actual carrier rate
- JPS shipping markup: ¥0
Collector packaging changes the decision
Removing unnecessary seller cartons can reduce volume.
Removing the retail box is different.
For collectors, the product box may have resale or display value.
Before repacking, decide whether:
- the retail box must remain intact
- minor box compression is acceptable
- only the outer shipping carton can be discarded
Pre-owned AmiAmi items
For pre-owned figures, review both:
Also check:
A clean figure in a damaged box is a different purchase from a damaged figure in a clean box.
- item condition
- package condition
- missing parts
- included bonuses
- opened/unopened status
- replacement pieces
When a proxy makes the most sense
Consider a proxy when:
- the transaction cannot be shipped directly
- you want to combine AmiAmi with other Japan purchases
- you need longer warehouse timing than a direct shipment provides
- your final parcel strategy is easier through one Japan warehouse
