Overview
A proxy purchase is not the same as buying directly from a store that offers a broad international return policy.
JPS purchases the item in Japan on the customer’s instructions.
Once the Japanese seller has accepted or completed the order, cancellation or return may be limited by the seller’s rules.

Before JPS buys the item
If the purchase has not yet been placed, a request may be cancelable.
The exact status matters.
Customers should contact JPS as soon as possible.
After JPS buys the item
Once the purchase is completed, cancellation depends on the Japanese seller or marketplace.
JPS cannot promise a return simply because the customer changed their mind.
Examples that may not qualify:
- wrong size selected by customer
- customer changed mind
- buyer did not read disclosed condition
- buyer expected an accessory not included in the listing
- customer misunderstood a Japanese-market specification
If the seller sends the wrong item
Contact JPS while the item is still in Japan.
Compare:
Resolving the issue before international shipment is usually easier than returning the item from another country.
- original listing
- order record
- warehouse item
- visible differences
If the item is damaged before international shipping
Determine where the problem occurred:
The original listing photos and condition text are important evidence.
- seller condition already disclosed
- Japan domestic shipping
- warehouse handling
If the item is damaged during international shipping
This becomes a carrier claim issue.
Carrier shipping protection applies according to the selected carrier’s terms.
JPS assists with eligible carrier claims.
This is different from authenticity disputes, seller misdescription, or pre-existing defects.
Authentication disputes
JPS basic receiving check is not professional authentication.
If authenticity is important, evaluate the seller evidence before purchase and use appropriate specialist services where available.
Return shipping inside Japan
If a seller accepts a return, possible costs can include domestic return shipping, seller charges, and payment-related costs.
The outcome depends on the seller and transaction.
Internationally shipped items
Once an item has left Japan, returns can become significantly more expensive and complex.
Possible issues include:
Resolve concerns before shipment whenever possible.
- international return freight
- customs documentation
- carrier restrictions
- refund timing
- seller return deadlines
Customer checklist before purchase
- Correct item?
- Correct variation?
- Correct size?
- Condition understood?
- Accessories confirmed?
- Seller return terms acceptable?
