Please contact us for details. ●When the seedlings arrive ●Planting in the garden (Planting location: Shade to partial shade) Be sure to turn the soil over thoroughly, and if the soil is hardened, mix in potting soil. If drainage is poor, create ridges or dig trenches to improve drainage. (Note: Do not water in the evening.) ● Subsequent care ● Watering: Garden plants: Generally, no watering is necessary. Water may be necessary if there is prolonged drought in the summer. Potted plants: Although drought-tolerant, water generously when the surface soil turns white and dry. ● Fertilizer (see guidelines above) For garden plants, apply organic or fast-acting compound fertilizer as base fertilizer in February, followed by a top dressing of the same product in October. For potted plants, apply organic fertilizer or fast-acting chemical fertilizer in February, July, and October. ● Pruning (not necessary for 2-3 years after planting): The best time is early January to early February. Pruning methods are similar to those for grapes. For short-shoot pruning, leave 1-2 nodes at the base. For long-shoot pruning, cut off most of the vine from the base, but cut the remaining branches at 4-5 or 7-8 nodes. ● Potting: Repot every 2-3 years. Repot into a pot 2-3 times larger. There is a limit to how much you can enjoy it in a pot. Once it reaches a certain size, we recommend planting it in the garden.
