About the Gift: Your donation will be used to feed the whale shark, which has been designated as Yomitan Village's village fish. Donors will receive a letter of appreciation and two tickets for a whale shark glass-bottom boat ride. [About Whale Sharks] Whale sharks were designated Yomitan Village's village fish on July 14, 2017. Whale sharks caught in large fixed nets are acclimatized in special enclosures and then exhibited at the Churaumi Aquarium. All whale sharks at Churaumi Aquarium are native to Yomitan Village. [Whale Shark Breeding] (Yomitan Village Fisheries Cooperative Association) Several whale sharks stray into the large fixed nets operated by the Yomitan Village Fisheries Cooperative Association each year. Whale sharks are currently being raised off the coast of Yomitan Village, and plans include feeding observations from a glass-bottom boat and snorkeling and diving with the whale sharks. [Whale Shark Glass Boat] Observe whale sharks in their underwater pens through the glass bottom of the boat. The feeding show, held every trip, is a thrill! You'll be mesmerized by their sheer size and power. Even small children can enjoy the popular whale sharks up close and safely.
